Classic Margarita Recipe
Ingredients
– 2 oz (60 ml) tequila (preferably 100% agave)
– 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lime juice
– 1 oz (30 ml) orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau or Triple Sec)
– Optional: 1/2 oz (15 ml) simple syrup or agave nectar (for added sweetness)
– Ice
– Coarse salt for rimming the glass
– Lime wedge (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Glass:
– Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or margarita glass.
– Dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt to coat it. Set the glass aside.
2. Mix the Drink:
– In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup/agave nectar (if desired).
– Add ice and shake well for 15–20 seconds.
3. Serve:
– Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice (optional).
